The 21st Century Cures Act: Discuss What You Write. Write What You Discuss.

Beginning March 30, 2021, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare will implement the U.S. Department of Health and HumanServices 21st Century Cures Act, the mandate applies to all encounter types—Ambulatory, Inpatient, Outpatient Surgery,Emergency Department, etc. and requires we share more of the medical record with our patients.

Patients will be able to view:

  • History and Physical
  • Consultation Notes
  • Progress Notes
  • Procedure Notes
  • Discharge Summaries
  • Imaging Reports
  • Laboratory Reports
  • Pathology Reports
  • Procedure, Surgical, and Anesthesia Notes
  • Hospital Provider and Nursing Notes

  • Behavioral Health Unit: Labs, Diagnostics, Procedures, Progress Notes, Nursing Notes
  • Pathology Reports (All)
  • MMG Clinical Notes
  • Sutherland Cardiology (Additional Clinic Notes)
  • Clinical Information Received from other Providers Outside our HealthCare System (Scanned or Electronically Received)
  • Images Taken (Wounds, Dermatology, etc.) and Saved to Chart

Patients will not be able to view:

  • Psychotherapy Notes
  • Notes that would lead to harm events
  • Administrative and Billing Information
  • Diagnostic Images
